Mr Poda holds a PhD in Economic Law from University Paris-X_ Nanterre (France) as well as a Master’s degree in Economic Development & International Finance from University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne (France).
After a couple of years as an adjunct Professor at University of Paris-X-(Nanterre), University of Ougadougou (Burkina Faso) and the National Training School for Judges in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), he joined the Central Bank of the West African States (BCEAO) where he served for almost 20 years as Deputy General Counsel. In that capacity, he participated in the conception, drafting and implementation of the major banking and financial regulations initiated by the Central Bank including (i) the Regional Council for Initial Public Offering,(ii) the Electronic Payment System Reform, (iii)the Regulations to Prevent and Combat Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism in the Member States.
After his early retirement, Dr. Poda has engaged in consultancy and advisory activities. In that regard, he has advised several international institutions and organizations such as the International Financial Corporation (IFC), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS)’s Intergovernmental Action Against Money Laundering in Africa (GIABA), the African Union etc.
He currently conducts high level executive training in international banking, international finance, legal aspects of sovereign debt management, exchange control on foreign exchange etc.
He speaks French with working knowledge in English and Spanish.
